It is a nine to ten hour day at MX$869.95 pesos with transport from the city centre included, which makes it a completely different product from a two-hour boat ride, so I am not going to rank it against one on price. The museum and lunch are options you have to select.
Ten five-star reviews cannot produce a 4.4
This is the clearest demonstration on the site of why a quote is not a rating. The ten reviews I can publish are all five stars. The average across 3,894 is 4.4, which requires a substantial weight of threes, twos and ones underneath it. None of them is in front of me. Read the quotes for texture and read the 4.4 for the odds.
The most useful review here is a complaint inside a five-star rating
“It was a great day trip. David and Salvador were very nice and welcoming. I have nothing to say about it. The same goes for punctuality and the things to do chosen. The only problem, and it would be good to mention it: - on the small boats that we take, if we want mariachi music or to put up a speaker, we have to pay extra on top of the excursion. It would be nice to write it in the description so you aren’t surprised. But excellent excursions overall. I recommend them.”
She is right, and the number is public. Under the tariff the Alcaldía Xochimilco published in 2024, a mariachi song is MX$300 and antojitos are MX$130. Those are charges on the water, not part of any tour price, and every trajinera trip on this site is exposed to them.
The tour is named after a museum you might not enter
The Frida Kahlo Museum, Casa Kahlo and lunch are included only if you select that option. One reviewer describes doing it the other way and rating it five stars anyway.

Check which option you are buying before you pay. Two travelers can book the same tour on the same day and one of them never sees a Kahlo painting.

The material I scraped names Xochimilco, Coyoacán, an artisan cooperative and the optional museum and lunch. A reviewer describes a stop I cannot find in that description.

UNAM’s campus is a real place and a reasonable stop on a route between the city centre and the south. I am reporting that a reviewer went there and that the description I have does not mention it. Do not assume your departure includes it.

If the boat is what you came for, this is not the efficient way to get it. A dedicated trajinera tour gives you two to two and a half hours on the water; a city day trip gives you a slice of that plus a museum, a neighbourhood and a coach.
Who it suits
Visitors staying in the centre with one free day and no appetite for working out the Tren Ligero, who want Coyoacán and the canals in one go and are buying the day rather than the boat. If you want the canals themselves, start with the traditional trajinera review.
