Xochimilco boat tours: the eight worth comparing

Prices were read off each activity’s own listing in Mexican pesos on 13 August 2026. All eight carry free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, reserve now and pay later, and a live guide in English and Spanish; the tequila tasting and the party boat add French. What separates them is length, what is included, and whether the price gets you to the water at all.

The catch on each one
- The traditional ride, MX$626.20. The cheapest, and the best rated of the eight with a review count worth trusting — 4.9 from 631. You get yourself to Canal 237 on the Nativitas dike.
- The tequila tasting, MX$752.50. Leaves from Embarcadero Las Flores Nativitas, which is one of the docks on the CDMX government’s own venue list. Tips and live music are extra.
- The Frida Kahlo day, MX$869.95. More reviews than the other seven combined and the second-lowest rating. Nine to ten hours with transport from the center included — but the museums and lunch only if you select that option.
- The Coyoacán trip, MX$887.01. The lowest rated here at 4.0 from 357 reviews, and it stays on the page because a comparison of winners only is not a comparison. Read the exclusions carefully: pickup from the meeting point is included, hotel pickup is not.
- The party boat, MX$994.50. The only one of the eight whose own exclusions say transport to the meeting point is not included. That is a real cost if you are staying in the center.
- The kayak, MX$1,000. Not a trajinera, and 57 reviews is thin. It is the honest answer for anyone who has read the party-boat reviews and wants the opposite. No meeting point is published, so I do not name a dock for it.
- Food with local women, MX$1,100. Three and a half hours, maximum eight people, and only one of those hours is on a boat. A 5.0 from fifteen reviews is not a 4.9 from 631.
- Island of the Dolls, MX$1,100. Two hours in total, which is far quicker than the one and a half to two hours each way El Universal reported in February 2026 for a trajinera from the central docks. The operator describes it as the original island; at least two replicas exist, so ask which one before you board.
If you are three or more and can agree a price in Spanish at a dock gate, hire the boat yourself and book none of these. A two-hour hire is MX$1,500 for up to eighteen people. The arithmetic is here.

Frequently asked questions
How many Xochimilco boat tours are there to choose from?
This site compares eight bookable products, from MX$626.20 to MX$1,100 pesos per person. All eight carry free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure and a live guide in English and Spanish.
Which Xochimilco tour is the cheapest?
The traditional trajinera sightseeing tour, MX$626.20 per person for two to two and a half hours, with a guide, drinks, a quesadilla or sope and a souvenir included. It is also the best rated of the eight at 4.9 from 631 reviews.
Do any of these tours include transport from Mexico City?
Two do. The Frida Kahlo day trip includes transport from the meeting point in the center, and the Coyoacán trip includes pickup from its meeting point — though not from your hotel, which the operator lists separately as excluded. The party boat states outright that transport to the meeting point is not included.
Should I book a tour or just hire a trajinera?
If there are three or more of you and you are comfortable agreeing a price in Spanish at the dock, hire your own boat: MX$750 an hour for up to eighteen people beats any per-person price here. For one or two people, or if you would rather not negotiate, a booked tour is cheaper per head and comes with a guide.
